To many golfers the name Ben Hogan conjures up thoughts of technical perfection in the golf swing. For generations, Mr. Hogan’s swing has been the ultimate – the one to emulate, the standard by which all others are judged. To this day, golf’s greatest teachers still use Mr. Hogan's swing as the model.
But Ben was much more. In his heyday he was a man who dominated his sport for more than two decades in spite of tremendous physical odds. He recorded 63 victories as a professional, including ten majors. And in the minds of many golf aficionados, he is the preeminent striker of the ball, as well as a shot maker without peer, perhaps the greatest ever.
But it was what his pal Jimmy Demaret called Hogan’s “inside game….the unbelievable will to win, the quiet determination, the intense concentration” that truly set him apart and drove him to such great heights.
